Footsteps Through the Adirondacks is a tribute to a visionary genius who is one of the most important figures in Adirondack history, for whom no biography of this sort has been published. In an informal narrative style, Nina Webb has humanized a complex character whose militaristic approach to the Survey earned him a reputation as a cold, cruel and compulsive leader. At the same time , she has uncovered what drove a young, twenty-five-year-old to take on such an emotionally and physically challenging job. The reader is led right out into the Survey with Colvin and is able to "witness" all facets of the life of this most uncommon man. |
