Bob Elinskas loves hunting and he loves the Adirondacks.
If you share those passions, and a heck of a lot of people in our area
do, you'll love Elinskas latest book, Adirondack Camps and Hunts.
Elinskas, a North Brookfield native and Utica resident who has spent
close to half a century hunting the Adirondacks, told a lot of great
tales in his previous book, A Deer Hunter's History Book, which was, as
I wrote in this column in 2005, absolutely terrific.
The book was full of wonderful stories based on Bob's own experiences
and conversations with old-time hunters, some of whom began hunting
early in the 20th Century. It was filled with vintage photos, too.
Adirondack Camps and Hunts is more of the same great stories, great
photos....
There is much else, especially stories about the many hunting clubs
throughout the mountains, and it is all very entertaining. I couldn't
put it down... It's 220 pages and contains dozens of
photos.
