First Person
1898. Car-wheel tycoon, Charles Chapin engages Adirondack guide Wellington Kenwell to build a comfortable log camp in the isolated wilds of the Moose River Plains. Accessible only by a single track trail, the well-heeled family enjoyed decades of comfortable three season recreation on the shore of Beaver Lake. Dubbed Camp Nit, the vacation lodge was furnished with rustic, yet comfortable furniture produced by local craftsmen from natural materials. Had O'Leary's Adirondack Style book been available
there is no doubt in my mind the Chapin's would have been inspired by the selection of handsome pieces. Ownership of a vacation camp is not a perquisite to buy this book. If you enjoy rustic, stick-built furniture you'll enjoy Adirondack Style. - Jay O'Hern |
